Depiction of a cloth wrapped lightly around the bell. The word “peace” is engraved into its folds in 33 languages. The cloth appears as if the wind had caught it and carried it up to the bell. A metaphor for the fragility of peace. The bell cast in bronze reinforces the wish that peace is permanent. The selection of languages includes many widely spoken languages, but above all European languages, as European peace means first and foremost protection for the (church) community and home of the bell.
